New: Südtirol Pass online check-in

südtirolmobil has several innovations at the ready

Recent additions to the südtirolmobil website and app include a first step towards mobile ticketing, new colours in the design and stop names displayed on the map view.

We are constantly building and developing both our app and the website – and for that, we value feedback from our users very much. A number of suggestions have already been implemented: Our latest release features a new design scheme with additional colours aimed at making timetable searches clearer and the navigation more intuitively structured.

All maps now also show the names of stops and stations. This will make it easier especially for users who are unfamiliar with the area to find their way around and identify their stop on the map or in the satellite view.

New feature: online check-in on your smartphone

The biggest novelty: Südtirol Pass and Euregio Family Pass holders can now also check in to validate their journey by bus or train from their smartphone. This additional check-in option is another big step towards mobile ticketing that eliminates the need to use the blue validation machines before boarding – and a way to avoid crowds at the train station or taking a detour to find the nearest ticket validation machine.

In the near future, mobile check-in will also be used on a number of bus routes: Following the reorganisation of regional bus services starting from mid-November and, in some cases, mid-December, some buses will operate without on-board ticket validation machines during a transitional period. The new online check-in feature will allow passengers to continue travelling with their Südtirol Pass or Euregio Family Pass at their usual rate.

Digitisation everywhere is advancing rapidly, and new standards are being introduced to all areas of life and the economy. In South Tyrol, too, the introduction of digital technologies and mobile ticketing across public mobility are a key focus, and more major steps in this direction will be launched throughout the coming year. For passengers, this will mean complete independence from ticket machines and ticket validation devices, plus the greatest possible flexibility for using buses and trains. Overall, these new technologies will see South Tyrol take another quantum leap towards smart and climate-friendly mobility based on intelligent networks.

Online check-in: here’s how

Once you’ve found and selected your bus or train connection by searching our online timetables, you can book your journey, check in to validate your ticket and, if necessary, even cancel it with just a few clicks at any time and up to one minute before the scheduled departure. To prove that you have a valid ticket, simply show your mobile device with your ticket displayed as “active” to your bus driver or at the request of a ticket inspector.
Before the first online validation, the Südtirol Pass must be validated at least once at the blue validation machine.
