Hop on a train or bus to visit the Christmas markets

It's simple, flexible, and stress-free!

The South Tyrolean Christmas markets offer the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the warm atmosphere of Advent, discover unique gift ideas and enjoy quality time with friends or family. The experience is made even more relaxing when the journey is stress-free, which is why buses and trains are ideal.

By choosing public transport, visitors can avoid queues and the often tiring search for parking, allowing them to start their visit to the Christmas market in complete tranquillity. After a short journey, visitors are greeted by the familiar scents of Advent — gingerbread, cinnamon, and cloves — and their anticipation grows with every step.

Bozen/Bolzano: well-connected and easily accessible

The Bozen/Bolzano Christmas market is particularly easy to reach via the Brenner/Brennero railway line or from Meran/Merano.

During the Advent weekends, the rail service between Verona and Bozen/Bolzano is enhanced further: a new pedestrian route leads directly from the station to the town centre, which is full of surprises and little highlights. Urban services 3 and 5 also run more frequently on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Additionally, service 111 between Bozen/Bolzano and Leifers/Laives runs on Sunday afternoons and public holidays, operating according to a special timetable.

If you really cannot do without your car

If you're arriving by car, take the Bozen Süd/Bolzano Sud motorway exit and park at the Bolzano Exhibition Centre. Free shuttle buses run from there every 8–12 minutes on Saturdays and public holidays, taking passengers directly to the town centre. The buses depart from the “Bozen Süd/Bolzano Sud – Messe/Fiera” stop on platform C in Marco-Polo-Straße/Via Marco Polo.

Alternatively, you can also comfortably reach the town centre by train from there.

Merano: enjoy flexible mobility during Advent!

Even in Meran/Merano's urban area, it is easy to get around by public transport. A flexible mobility concept means that additional services can be activated at short notice in the event of a large influx of visitors. This means that travel is always comfortable and reliable.

One last tip for the cold season

As well as the large Christmas markets, it is also worth visiting the many smaller, charming markets scattered throughout South Tyrol – perfect for those who want to discover special places. The südtirolmobil app is a valuable tool for planning your journey and navigating the entire network.
