Due to extensive construction work, the Brenner railway line will be completely closed on several sections from Saturday, July 18 through Saturday, August 1, 2026 (inclusive).

- Steinach am Brenner – Innsbruck: 23.07.2026 – 01.08.2026
- Peri – Verona Porta Nuova: 20.07.2026 – 26.07.2026
As part of the line closure along the Brenner railway, extensive construction and maintenance work will be carried out to support the long-term modernization and capacity upgrade of the entire infrastructure. At Brenner station, the work mainly involves track construction and the replacement of switches. In the Vahrn area, the tracks will be slightly relocated to create the technical conditions for the future connection of the Rigger Valley loop. At Bressanone and Waidbruck-Laion stations, existing construction projects will continue and be bundled together during the closure. Switches will also be renewed at Domegliara station. In the section between Steinach am Brenner and Innsbruck, various renovation works will additionally be carried out, including in the area of the Mühltal Tunnel.
For long-distance travelers, during the closure (July 18 – August 1) the replacement buses of line SV300, run by the railway companies ÖBB, DB and Trenord, will be available.
The buses run between Bolzano and Innsbruck (non-stop) as well as between Bressanone, Fortezza and Innsbruck.
The stops are located at Bolzano station and Bressanone station, both at bus platform B, at Fortezza station in the station forecourt, and in Innsbruck at the loading area near Innsbruck Central Station.

Important note: Bicycle transport is not possible on the replacement service. südtirolmobil tickets are not valid on these buses.
Trains RJ80 and RJ81 (Munich–Venice), on the other hand, will be rerouted via a long detour through Tarvisio and will not be replaced by buses.
Please note that restrictions and individual train cancellations may still occur on July 17 and August 2 as well. We recommend checking the information channels of the relevant railway companies (ÖBB, DB, Trenord) before traveling.
From July 18 to August 1, 2026, the regular Railjet connections operated by ÖBB, DB and Trenord south of Bolzano will not run and will not be replaced by any substitute service.
In addition, the railway section between Peri and Verona Porta Nuova will be closed from July 20 to 26, 2026. During this period, no long-distance trains operated by Trenitalia (Frecce, IC, ICN) or Italo will run south of Bolzano either.
As an alternative, passengers on the Bolzano – Peri/Ala section can use regional trains. Between Peri/Ala and Verona, replacement buses will be set up.

23.07.–01.08.2026

Important note for passengers coming from the north:
From July 18 to 22, trains in North Tyrol run only as far as Gries am Brenner. Passengers heading to South Tyrol or Italy are asked to change to the replacement service already at Steinach am Brenner, since no transfer to the replacement service is possible at Gries am Brenner.
During this period, only regional trains run on the Bolzano–Peri/Ala section; no long-distance trains are scheduled on this section. Transfer to the replacement service takes place either at Peri or Ala station, depending on the connection.
The replacement service is organized by the railway company Trenitalia. Please check Trenitalia's website and information channels for current timetables and connections.
Yes. For operational and logistical reasons, adjustments to the service schedule are planned for both long-distance and regional trains on the day before and after the closure.
In addition, there will be a reduced train service on the Bolzano–Bressanone section due to construction work. South of Bolzano, some individual trains will be cancelled, for example cross-border connections on the Trento–Innsbruck route.
On the Merano railway line, in the evening hours the departure time of train 17117 will be pushed back, which may negatively affect the last connecting services.

The arrival and departure times of trains on the Brenner and Val Pusteria lines are fixed and cannot be changed. In addition, the travel times between Bressanone and Rio Pusteria, as well as the transfer times at both stations, are so tight that missed connections — and therefore unpredictable travel connections — would become much more frequent.
It should also be noted that the Val Pusteria road section in particular is highly prone to traffic congestion during the high tourist season, which can cause considerable variation in travel times. For these reasons, no replacement service between Rio Pusteria and Bressanone was set up.
An exception has been made, however, for passengers on the morning direct train San Candido–Merano R16264, which runs slightly off its regular schedule. In this case, passengers can change to the replacement service at Rio Pusteria station and travel directly through to Bressanone station, where a connection to the regular train toward Bolzano and Merano is guaranteed.

Important: In order to offer most passengers short, attractive travel times and to maintain connections, not all stations along the route can be served. The B100 replacement service serves the stop "Campo di Trens, roundabout" in Campo di Trens and "Colle Isarco, village" in Colle Isarco.
Travel time between Bressanone and Brenner stations on the B100 replacement line is approximately one hour.
For cross-border connections from Bolzano, Bressanone and Fortezza to Innsbruck, it's recommended to use the SV300-Express replacement service run by ÖBB/Trenord, which runs every two hours. This service runs mostly via the Brenner motorway and allows for significantly shorter travel times. Please note that südtirolmobil tickets are not accepted on the SV300 replacement service.
From July 19 to August 1, 2026, a continuous half-hourly service runs during the day between Bressanone and Brenner. On the Bressanone–Fortezza section, the service is increased to every 15 minutes, providing better connections for Val Pusteria line passengers at Fortezza station. At the edges of the day, the frequency is reduced to hourly.
The timetable generally provides two to three buses per train departure; additional reinforcement runs are also offered on certain sections during peak times. Individual trips can be checked in the südtirolmobil app. Please always check the destination display on the bus, as some runs only serve certain sections of the route.
Tickets can be bought at ticket machines in stations, at Trenitalia counters, and at südtirolmobil info points. Tickets can also conveniently be purchased via mobile ticketing in the südtirolmobil app. Buying a ticket on board B100 replacement buses is generally not possible. Please make sure to purchase your ticket before starting your journey.
südtirolmobil tickets billed by kilometer can be validated online or at the validation machines in stations. Please note that most B100 replacement buses are not equipped with the onboard ticketing system, so validation must be done before boarding the bus. Self-control applies; random checks are carried out on the buses.
When validating at stations, ticket holders can, as usual, enter the destination station code to validate the entire journey in a single step.

All valid südtirolmobil flat-rate tickets — annual and monthly passes such as U19, U26, Fix365, 65+, as well as the Südtirol Guest Pass — are exempt from the validation requirement on B100 replacement buses on the Trento–Bolzano–Brenner section.
Tickets must be shown to inspection staff on request and serve as visual proof. Self-control applies.
Please note that the SV300 express replacement services on the Bolzano–Innsbruck and Bressanone–Fortezza–Innsbruck routes cannot be used with südtirolmobil tickets.
These buses are marked accordingly and depart from different platforms in Bolzano and Bressanone (see point 4).
A valid ÖBB or DB ticket is required to use these replacement services.
Due to limited vehicle availability on the replacement service, and the priority of accommodating as many passengers as possible, bicycles generally cannot be carried on B100 buses or on the ÖBB SV300 express replacement services on the Bolzano–Innsbruck and Bressanone–Innsbruck routes. This applies to both regular bicycles and e-bikes.
Folding bikes and e-scooters, however, can be carried folded/closed as luggage, provided they can be safely stowed and don't inconvenience or endanger other passengers. Please make sure such items remain securely stowed for the entire journey and don't obstruct the passenger area.

Passengers are asked to request the assistance they need at least 24 hours before travel and to arrive at the station or bus stop in good time before departure.

Coaches used for the replacement service are normally high-floor vehicles. If needed, a separate transport service will be arranged.
Line 310 buses are generally low-entry buses with a low-floor entrance and a ramp.
Despite extensive preparation and ongoing improvements, adjustments to the replacement service may still be needed — and your input is highly valuable. Different bus types with varying equipment are used for the replacement service, depending on availability and deployment planning. Because of this mixed fleet, it can't be guaranteed that all buses used will have a toilet on board.
For operational and logistical reasons, it isn't possible to consistently provide vehicles equipped with a WC throughout the replacement service.
Public restrooms are generally available at stations along the route and can be used before departure or during transfers.
