Closure of the Brenner/Brennero railway line in August 2025

Work on the Brenner/Brennero railway line

From 12 August to 18 August 2025, the railway line between Brixen/Bressanone and Steinach am Brenner (A) will be closed for infrastructure maintenance work. A replacement bus service will be provided along the route.

The closure is necessary for major infrastructure maintenance and preparatory work for future railway projects.

The following key activities will be carried out:

  • Systematic maintenance of the track ballast along the railway line
  • Maintenance work in the Fleres/Pflersch tunnel
  • Renewal of track sections at Brenner/Brennero station
  • Construction of the connection for the new Pustertal/val Pusteria railway via the Riggertal/Val di Riga route
  • Works in the area south of Brixen/Bressanone station.

The works are being carried out in close cooperation with the infrastructure manager RFI and are coordinated with previously scheduled works on the Austrian section of the Brenner/Brennero line. This allows for efficient planning and acceleration of strategic modernization efforts across the network.
