In the next few days, südtirolmobil ticket inspectors in the province of Bozen/Bolzano will begin wearing body cameras that can be activated to record events, with the aim of preventing and documenting assaults.
The cameras do not record continuously. The ticket inspectors wear them in plain sight, and although they are switched on at the start of the shift, they only need to be activated manually in the event of imminent danger.
The introduction of this tool serves a dual purpose. Firstly, it acts as a deterrent to potential assailants, and secondly, it allows incidents of violence to be recorded, providing video evidence that can be made available to law enforcement agencies for investigation.
Videos are encrypted for privacy and security. Access to the videos is restricted to law enforcement agencies and authorised personnel of STA – Südtiroler Transportstrukturen AG/Strutture Trasporto Alto Adige SpA, thus ensuring that the content is only viewed by those authorised to do so.
This measure confirms our ongoing commitment to making public transport safer for everyone, protecting both passengers and operators.
