The electrification of the Vinschgau/Val Venosta railway line will enter a crucial phase this year. The old signalling system will be gradually dismantled. At the same time, new overhead lines and the European Train Control System (ETCS) will be installed on existing and new trains, all of which have been extensively tested and approved. It has therefore become necessary to close the line, first partially between Laas/Lasa and Mals/Malles, and completely between Meran/Merano and Mals/Malles from autumn onwards.
Questions about the closure and replacement services can be found here.
